This Privacy Policy explains what information Car.net.pk collects when you use www.car.net.pk and app.car.net.pk, how we use it and the choices you have. We keep it short and in plain language because we believe you should understand exactly what happens to your data.

1. Information we collect

  • Account details — name, mobile number, email address, WhatsApp number, city and password (stored hashed). Dealers also provide business name, address, CNIC and business documents for verification.
  • Ad content — the vehicle details, photos, price and contact number you choose to publish.
  • Usage data — pages viewed, searches, saved cars, contact-button clicks, device type, browser, IP address and approximate location, collected through server logs and analytics cookies.
  • Messages — messages you send to other users through the site, contact-form submissions and WhatsApp conversations with our official number.
  • Payment information — when you buy a package we record the order, amount, payment method and your proof of payment. We never store card numbers; card payments are processed by the payment gateway.

2. How we use it

  • To run the marketplace: publish your ads, show your contact number to interested buyers, and connect buyers and sellers.
  • To verify accounts with OTP codes by email, SMS or WhatsApp and to prevent fraud and duplicate ads.
  • To send service notifications — ad approved, ad expiring, new lead, payment received — by email and WhatsApp. Marketing messages are sent only if you opt in, and every marketing email has an unsubscribe link.
  • To improve the Service through aggregated analytics, fair-price estimates and search ranking.
  • To respond to your questions, reports and legal requests.

3. What is public

When you post an ad, the vehicle details, photos, price, city and your contact name are public. Your phone number is shown to visitors who click "Show number" or "WhatsApp" unless you choose "hide phone" and receive messages only. Dealer profile pages are public. Your email address is never shown publicly.

4. Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with: service providers who help us run the site (hosting, image storage, email and WhatsApp delivery, analytics, payment gateways) under contract; our inspection, insurance and finance partners when you request those services; and authorities when required by law. If Car.net.pk is ever acquired, user data may transfer to the new owner under this policy.

5. Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies for login and security, and analytics cookies (for example Google Analytics) to understand how the site is used. Advertising partners such as Google AdSense may set cookies to show relevant ads. You can control cookies in your browser settings; the site works without non-essential cookies.

6. Retention

We keep your account data while your account is active. Expired and sold ads remain visible for a limited period for search-engine and buyer reference, then are archived. Removed ads, suspended accounts and payment records are kept as long as needed for fraud prevention, accounting and legal obligations. You can ask us to delete your account at any time; some records may be retained where the law requires.

7. Security

All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS, passwords are hashed, sensitive settings are encrypted at rest, and access to admin tools is limited to authorised staff with two-factor login. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and never share OTP codes with anyone, including people claiming to be from Car.net.pk.

8. Your rights

You can view and update your details from your account page, download your ads, turn notifications on or off, unsubscribe from marketing and request deletion of your account. Contact us through the contact page and we will respond within 30 days.

9. Children

The Service is for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

10. Changes

We may update this policy; the latest version is always on this page with its date. Significant changes will be announced by email or a notice on the site.
